Premier League Betting Pick Chelsea – Norwich
Chelsea Blues Norwich Canaries Preview
It’s only two rounds left and Abramovich has already lost his smile. Chelsea noticed a goalless draw at Britannia in the first round, then in another bleak display managed to come from behind and win 2-1 against newcomers West Brom. Before anybody started to question team’s quality for the title, they’ve signed excellent Spanish winger Juan Mata from Valencia (26 mill pound) and he should make his debut on Saturday. Besides him, Modric saga hasn’t been finished yet and it won’t be a big surprise if Abramovich opens his check book again. However, Andre Villas-Boas will be again without Petr Cech (Hilario is best they have), Michael Essien and Portuguese centre back David Luiz. In the recent history, Chelsea played against Norwich five times (four wins, one draw) and all three games at Stamford Bridge ended with scoreline 4-0.
The Canaries started their debut in the top flight with two draws, both 1-1. At the opening day they drew at DW Stadium against Wigan, in the game that should have been a six-pointer. Then, in the first game at Carrow Road, Norwich were keeping a lead till the stoppage time when Kenwyne Jones scored and snatched a point for the Potters. For the midweek Carling Cup game, manager Paul Lambert made 11(!) changes and suffered a humiliating defeat at home (“lacklustre display” according to him) against League One side MK Dons (0-4). However, their only mission is avoiding relegation in Premier and I don’t think it will have any bad influence on the team morale (regardless how embarrassing it looks). Lambert will be missing defenders Elliott Ward and Leon Barnett (red card vs. Stoke) and forward James Vaughan.
Betting Pick and Odds
Odds for a home win look more than skinny and with Hillario at the goal I wouldn’t dare to consider any kind of a handicap. Abramovich and fans will demand (beside three points of course) domination, chances and few goals in the visitors’ net. Fernando Torres made two decent displays (decent comparing with his games at Chelsea, not those in Liverpool), but was unlucky in several occasions. Norwich at home is an ideal opportunity for him to back on the track (I have no doubt Villas-Boas will give him advantage over Drogba/Anelka, once again) and finally score.
